75% of learning to heal is learning to heal yourself. Take healing touch for yourself. You dont need that many "target other ally" spells, you have 3. (I only use 1 for my monk) You have smiting yet no smiting skills, Im assuming you meant prot for that mend ailment?

Really? Well, pure healers are very bad. They run out of energy in a flash. If you absolutely insist (and trust me its a bad idea), at least take Signet of Devotion, drop the lousy Res Sig.

I agree with White - Drop the rez signet. The monk should be the last member on any team who is rezzing teammates. It takes away from the precious time he could be healing/protecting. On the other hand I don't quite understand where he's going with "pure healers are very bad." Curious as to where that healing is supposed to come from.

Looks half-decent except for the rez sig, and the fact that you have no skills from a secondary. You're also lacking any type of energy management. Monks should not be carrying any type of rez, whatsoever. Also, using a major rune is silly. Either use a superior, or use a minor; majors are quite worthless.

Eh..maybe should have been more clear. Energy Management/Regen is a must on any healer. I consider a 'Pure Healer' one using all Monk skills, and that is indeed bad.

Offering of Blood/Energy Drain/Channeling/Inspired Hex/Drain Enchantment, etc.

Those elites are better than the bugged Word, but its still your preference.

I consider a "pure healing" monk as one that uses only healing prayers and no protection prayers except mend ailment. In which case, they are not as effective or efficient as a heal/prot mix, at least in the arenas.

Prot spirit and shielding hands are must haves, IMO.

For Pve:

Breeze
Heal other
Orison
Word Of Healing
Prot Spirit
(open)
(open)
Rebirth

I typically bring Heal party and for the other open aegis, but never really use it due to the high mana cost.

I am pretty good at managing my energy. My team completed Thunderhead Keep with me as the only monk, never ran out of energy in a tight spot. Never get complaints in my PUG's

Well for prot i have aegis and shield of regen which both work very well.

Shield of regen for the war so u hardly have to heal them for 10 seconds and u can concentrate on other teamm8s.

If you're having problems with mesmer, take mesmer secondary and grab hex breaker. You barely need to put any points into dom for it to be effective. Take energy drain too (not energy tap, just won't work without fast cast).

When PVEing i bring my semi pure healer most of the time. I seldomly run into energy problems and that is happening when the fight lasts a real long time and all of a sudden gets a backup by a patrol.

However, here is my build. Quite uncommon i might add.

Monk/Mesmer
Healing: 16
Divine Favor 12
Protection: As much as you spare...

1. Orison of Healing
2. Echo {Mesmer Elitespell}
3. Heal Party
4. Signet of Devotion
5. Heal Other
6. Healing Seed
7. Mend Ailment / Smite Hex
8. Rebirth

I can echo a spell of my liking any time and adjust to the requirements quite easily. I will need some steady healing without hitting my energy? Fire up Echo, Use your Signet of Devotion. Now for the next 20 seconds you have it two times. Quite enough to counter some steady medium damage at 5 Energy Cost for quite a long time. In case of an emergency, fire up heal other and healing seed at your liking.

HOWEVER. PVP-Wise...
A pure Healer Monk just won't survive if he is on his own. What i did was using the secondary classes to keep me alive.

A somewhat useful PVP Build could be:

Monk/Warrior

Healing (as high as possible)
Tactics (9, to carry a shield)
Protection for the rest.

First off, i bring very few actual spells to heal others as i rely on getting attacked (which just will be the case 98% of the times, and the remaining 2% the opponent team is crappy anyways).

Orison of Healing
Healing Touch
Heal Other
Healing Hands {E}
Mend Ailment / Smite Hex
Protective Spirit
Shield Stance
Bonettis Defense

Sure thing, you'll have a real low energy pool to start with (Something around 25-40 depending on your armor) but you carry a nice shield which will just absorb some huge loads of damage.
Healing Hands is cast fast enough and reloads fast enough to be of use under the typical Natures Renewal Spam Scenario while the Stances screw physical damage. The few damage that gets through is easily healed by healing touch. In case i run low on energy i fire up Bonettis Defense and let those warriors recharge it. Thanks for all the energy folks, see you later...
With the exception of Backfire or Fragility i rarely remove hexes though.

In a 4vs4 Scenario this build is a survivor. If you time your spells and skills right you're just too hard to kill if there is no one interrupting you at the wrong time. And even then you have some backup plans to pull of.

In 8vs8 it can take most of the damage thrown at you. Of course you just won't stand the combined fire of 8 or even more opponents, but probably no build will do that for long. This is where you rely on your teammates as the spells to heal others are much mor efficient than the ones to heal yourself.

Both builds are by far not perfect, they are flawed to be honest. But i did manage to do some awesome things with it. Especially when it comes to survivability. Yes, both are not pure healers anymore but as i said, a pure healer just won't survive for long.

I use majors in mine what is wrong with them only on there scalpal armor tattoo.I can't afford superiors at the moment and where would they go?

When I am healing I use

orisons or breeze
Heal other
mend ailment
signet of devotion
mending or life viscosity
healing seed or a warriors skill mostly warrior
balance stance
restorelife

PS when healing don't use rebirth as it attribute is protect not healing and
restorelife is healing.

Rebirth is PvE, Restore Life is PvP hard res, Res Sig is PvP Common Res.

No one cares what % life someone is returned to in PvE, as long as they don't Res in the middle of a camping mob.

PvP Monks take none of these skills.
